Day 27 Thursday, July 13 Thursday July13, I drove 334 miles from Shasta City, N41 19.272 W122 19.083 to South Sacramento, California N38 28.515 W121 25.040
The weather was great until Redding, then it got hot. The Shasta KOA was a nice park, quiet and within walking distance of town.

Driving to Sacramento did not take much time, the temperature rose each mile I went. I stopped at Old Sacramento, walked around and had lunch. Then I went for a drive up I80 in stop and go traffic to Auburn where I turned off on 49 to Marshall gold discovery area. This park was closing in fifteen minutes so I did not go in. The area is great, old oaks and brown hills, I'm home again...almost.
I drove down 49 to Placerville and back toward Sacramento on Highway 50, a freeway like road. This brought me into South Sacramento, where I once again found a Motel 6. The Motel had a security guard sitting in a chair in the parking lot all night to keep trouble makers out. The car was not bothered, but I was glad to leave in the morning.
