1931 AA Truck

Our recent (February 2010) purchase and project. a 1931 AA Welders Truck

As the story was told to us, the previous owner was given the truck by his godfather (about 1941) sometime after that it was converted from a flatbed to the welders bed you see here. We plan on changing it back to a flatbed with wood racks, and use it for parades, and if we ever buy a cow we can bring the cow home and buy hay with it too.

We discovered the oldest Mc Donald's restaurant, just a couple of miles from where we bought the truck . We ate an early lunch here before loading up the truck for the trip home.

The truck is on the trailer, I had to winch it on as I did not want to try to get the engine started yet.

I am preparing to chain the truck onto the trailer in preparation of the 100+ miles trip south on Interstate 5. A Neighbor, "Sammy", helped get the truck from the patio into the street, and onto the trailer, thanks for your help, Sammy.

I chained it down good, I did not want it to fall off on the freeway.

The trip  home went well, we stopped only twice, once for a break, and once to check the chains.

The truck is home and ready to be unloaded, just in time too, it is almost dark, and more rain is expected.  I covered the truck with a tarp for the night.

It was a couple of days later, when between rain showers I was able to get the engine started.  I then drove the truck up my steep driveway to a better parking spot.

I am using boards and a come-along to pull the welder off the truck and onto the trailer

The end for now, updates to follow as the truck is restored.
